Good news about affordable uncapped broadband services in South Africa

Many broadband network operators, including Vumatel, Supersonic, FibrePoynt, and Isizwe, are rolling out affordable uncapped Internet services in underserved areas.

Fibre network operators have done an exceptional job to improve coverage in South Africa, but despite the strong growth in recent years many households still do not have access to fibre.

Because of the high cost to roll out fibre, most low-income areas like townships were not targeted by fibre network operators. This leaves them without affordable uncapped broadband.

As part of the project, Vumatel launched a prepaid platform as traditional fibre price points and contracts were not feasible in Mitchells Plain.

I don't get what they mean by "prepaid"? I've got uncapped Openserve fibre from Afrihost and it's technically prepaid. I pay at the end of each month for the following month's service. Also, there's no contract, it's month to month. I was under the impression that most fibre connections work like that.

You buy a voucher and activate it anytime for 28 days, sortof like mobile. You don't need to pay installation or activation fees. Technically month to month is still contract.

Sure Vumatel can roll out a cable that does nothing. Their prices are 2x more expensive than everyone else.

Rathee let openserve do it. R399 for the same as what I pay R900 at Vumatel for.

This is BS! Roodeplaat area has no coverage for most of these isp (fibre covergage) eventho most of roodeplaat singed up to show intrest (supersonic air fibre). Most isp's doesn't really care! Sorry if this is mean or sounds jerkish but for the past year i have tried waiting for good isp deals or even coverage yet nothing ever showed up! And all other isp's rather charge thousands for installation or is to expensive for the speeds you can get!

We're with TT Connect and they have a monopoly in our area and they pushed up their prices!
