Good news for Telkom’s 20Mbps and 40Mbps broadband services

Cape Town CBD? Or does the Foreshore MSAN cover that?

I see Brakfontein was included for upgrade in the Centurion area. Anyone know if this means Midstream Estate will get upgraded (including Midlands please). Competition for Smartvillage would be welcome- PS, why is Telkom still referring to Centurion as Verwoerdburgstad?

I noticed my exchange won't get VDSL a pity though. Only supports 4 megs max :(

I think it does not matter what your current infrastructure currently supports because those SDCs will be replaced regardless. You just have to get a large enough group to send in their interest from using this link and choose 40Mbps. Atleast this is what i think would matter to them.

See above reply, that link is all you need to get the folks to show their interest.

Our town don't have many privileged folks to signup for this so i have to rely on them getting to us at some point :). Be glad you got some areas around you because that means you are in line at some point :p.

Maybe i will get good news this week....

I would not hold my breath.

I have clients pleading with me to fix their broadband from Midstream Estates on a daily basis, but the buck always stop with Smartvillage.

There are rumours going around though that several cellphone towers will added in the vicinity, which should go some way to alleviate the broadband woes.

Big Whooop.... Nothing to see here..

Still Mtunzini / Richardsbay / Empangeni still gets nothing, allthough all our streets has been dug up with all the fibre going into the mainland from here. Very Sad.....

All rather pointless, considering how ridiculously expensive both the line rental and the insane ISP pricing is.

Try ordering the service - even if you're on an msan - near impossible. You ask for "VDSL", and you get a yes "ADSL". No, no "Veeee DSL". Rinse, repeat!
After the 15th person I happened to say 40mbps.. "Oooooooooh, then you need to speak to the special department, thats still a trial product." Sigh. Anyway, meant to switch over to 40mbps tomorrow.

The good news is that my exchange (Linton Grange) is on the list but I would have liked to have seen Grahamstown as well as I have clients still limited to 1Mbps there :(

Midstream and Midlands estate bodycorp does not allow Telkom to install copper lines in those areas.

If you want line connection smart village is your only choice (Thanks Monochoice!)

Have any ISP's released 20Mbps uncapped pricing? So far I've only seen Telkom's R1800 pm, which I hope isn't going to be the norm. Will line rental go up from R425?

I see they still have Three Rivers as a Pretoria region. Sigh.... They can upgrade Potjiesstroom but not Vereeniging or Vanderbijl. WTF?
