I have two smart televisions, one in the room and one in the living room.
If i purchase two Google Chromecast's will they be able to work simultaneously on each television watching two different programs on each television?

Yes, but you need to cast from two different devices.

Rather get one CC and an Android box. Phone remote plus actual remote, can always play around to see which device is better for which room.

I do this currently. Downstairs TV and Upstairs one in the bedroom. If you only have 1 device to control you need to cut wifi so that the chromecast carries on before connecting to the other one otherwise if you disconnect it just turns it off.
