Google.co.za slow to resolve on 8ta

Anyone else notice this? It's driving me mad, often search results just don't get displayed or takes a good 10 seconds or so even after refreshing.

Everything else is fine.. including google.com

We experienced the same thing with Google 3 days ago, but then suddenly 8ta went down. We still do not have access to the Internet.

Don't MWEB host the Google.co.za cache servers? Keeping that in mind: 8ta = Telkom. Telkom not part of the peering agreement with MWEB. So if you tracert your route, my guess is you are routed out of the country and back for google.co.za? Whats your latency from a ping?

Interesting, I have experienced exactly the same thing sporadically over recent weeks.... Yet Google elsewhere (USA,UK, NL) are all fine -- it's only access through 8ta to Google ZA which is an issue!

Tried that and didn't really seem to help. Now even google.com and google docs are terribly slow, everything else is 100%.

I'm pretty sure its got to do with this http://www.8ta.com/freezone/ - some crappy proxy server trying to send cached content or something.

You could try and override your dns servers and use the Google ones instead:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
