Google laying off hundreds of staff

Alphabet Inc.’s Google is laying off hundreds of staff working on its digital assistant, hardware and engineering teams, the company said as it continues its drive to cut costs.

Among the affected workers are those working on the voice-based Google Assistant and at the augmented reality hardware team.

Hectic! More proof that company loyalty truly is dead, and that the employee really needs to be taking care of themselves more.

Looks like 2024 will kick-off with multiple rounds of interviews, as companies increase their profitability and reduce exorbitant headcounts as a result of the COVID-19 days, haha.

Yep. Nobody wants voice control or AR.
Come to think of it, nobody wants software engineers in general

I actually do, but it needs to work 100% of the time & understand conversational language. Like how it is in the movie 'Her'.
