Hi folks,
Not sure this is the exact correct forum, but it's the closest I could find.
So, the heading may clarify already? I use a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I use Google Now a lot (voice commands), but, I noticed something: it only seems to be locally "saved". If my Note 4, and my older SGN 8.0 are lying next to each other (both signed into my same Google account, both synced and up to date), and I say "OK GOOGLE", and then "CALL MY SON", the Note 4 (which has already realized that my son in "JUSTIN", will call him, but the Note 8.0 will ask "Who is your son?", waiting for me to say his name (as the Note 4 did the very first time), and then associate that contact with "MY SON".
There are several such things I have picked up, which gives me the idea that Google is firstly NOT "learning" my speech patterns etc...since, some typical Afrikaans or South-African words - like, say: "Bakkie", are always recognized incorrectly, and it is as-if Google is never picking up on the fact that I use this word (whichever one it may be) regularly, and it is never picking up within context, that it should be used, instead of the incorrect "true English" word it always puts in.
Also: when I (for instance) start typing my name somewhere (text/whatsapp/internet form, whatever), the note 4 has "learned" certain words....like, my name, surname, address etc, and "quick-corrects" or "autofills" some of these on the Note 4. Yet, again, when going to the Note 8.0, no such similarities...ONLY the words that I've used on the Note 8.0 appear.
My thought is: does it not make sense that Google associate these "learned" things to my Google account, so that when I get a new phone/device (like the Note 7 that's coming out this week), it automagically "knows" me better?
Am I maybe missing a setting for this somewhere? It would be SO sensible if Google voice (for example) starts noticing that I use the "bakkie" for a pickup-truck, and doesn't try and insert "Bar Key"every time
but, MORE important: if it can actually sync this sensible info across my devices, so that when I get my new phone, I would be able to say "Call my wife", and the phone would KNOW to call Leana, and not ask me again (AS EVERY TIME ONE HAS A RESET OF ANY TYPE) "who is your wife".
Any comments/ideas/suggestions folks?
Cheers
