Google Web Accelerator and HSDPA/3G

While trying to use up my last couple a megs this week end, I tried out the Google Web Accelerator.

But rather than accelerating the web, it resulted in very slow response. Is this due to the 3G/HSDPA latency and the design of the Google Web Accelerator system?

I had to disable it and revert back to a normal system.

Any other forumites experiencing the same or have a real explanation for the not too technical inclined?

GWA will not work well for us here in SA, especially accessing content located on local servers. The reason being, is that Google's datacenters are located in Europe and USA mainly which means local traffic now becomes international increasing the latency quite a bit.
