Good. Their search results once were very good but it has turned to sheet.

Yup.
I've exclusively been using duckduckgo since the beginning of the year.
They've improved leaps and bounds since they first started.
I tried to use them a year or so ago, but always went back to google (startpage, actually) when I couldn't find what I was looking for.
These days I easily find everything -and in many cases **more- on duckduckgo.

**especially when it comes to political -and sometimes other- stuff that google tries to suppress / prevent you from finding.

Lawsuit filed:
The lawsuit focuses on the billions of dollars Google pays each year to ensure its search engine is installed as the default option on browsers and devices such as mobile phones.

Officials said those deals have helped secure Google's placeas the "gatekeeper" to the internet, owning or controlling the channels for about 80% of search queries in the US.

"Google has thus foreclosed competition for internet search," the lawsuit said. "General search engine competitors are denied vital distribution, scale, and product recognition - ensuring they have no real chance to challenge Google."

I've prototyped a few ideas in the past.
Tuned it online and within 3 months Google or another big player used the same concept in their products.

The smaller fish are fried way more than larger businesses. All of the corporates share the blame.
They all do it.

Google should ensure that their search engine is first, and Microsoft the same for Windows and Office, or Bing.

I don't see the issue with wanting to have the best product. I see an issue when the best product and it's design is sourced from other insignificant sources. With no credit due nor nada.

For local searches DDG is terrible though.
