Very worrying that so much depends on the perceptions around this one man. Does not bode well.

Its not actually just around him, but rather the political instability and involvement that it reveals

He is the last Kingpin that is holding back the wholesale pillaging of the National Treasury.

I'm not so sure.

I suspect the real reason they're after him is that he used the SARS unit to get dirt on high-ranking political foes, and Zooms wants to shut him down to protect himself and friends. Gordhan has repositioned himself as a goody, but his own past doesn't inspire much confidence...

This is my personal opinion. If Gordhan has broken any laws, he must be investigated, if needed, arrested, charged, put on trial and jailed.

If he is innocent, get the process over and done with and let him do his work.

I think it is wrong to keep a 'possible criminal' in charge of a country's finances and hold the exchange rate as a trigger to everyone's head to ensure no actions are taken against him.

Make this process quick. Get it over and done with as soon as possible so that corrective measures can be applied and get the currency stabilized again.

In addition to my opinion, I also do think the move against Gordhan may be politically motivated. If this is indeed the case, I really do hope that credit agencies downgrade South Africa to junk as soon as possible. We need to get to a point where the IMF cuts off funding and assistance to South Africa. This will be the only way to get rid of this government as these organizations will require a regime change before they provide assistance.

Yes, a lot of people will be affected, but unfortunately this may be required.

Cannot possibly agree. It'll only entrench the current mob, providing the excuse to take control and run a command economy as an emergency measure. We will not recover from that.

Do you understand how a Credit Agency downgrade will effect us?
