Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has asked trade union Solidarity to provide a list of people with the necessary technical skills to help government address the skills crisis at Eskom.

On 14 July, Gordhan wrote to the managing director of Solidarity, Dirk Hermann, to thank the trade union for its offer in May this year to mobilise critical skills.

I wonder what the RET Azanians will say about this...
A lot, I am also wondering why is it Gordhan who is doing that, something about it sounds off, Eskom has management and HR who should be dealing with this stuff.

Ministers meddling like that even if their intentions are noble is very improper and could be interpreted as abuse of power.

Not sure if this will actually even to start fixing Eskom... damage has been done for years.

Probably a start instead of flapping lips...

No, it won't. It will likely offer temporary fixes here and there. But, they urgently need to mine more coal and start building new coal stations. Without it, the country will be in the same position weeks after these guys leave for their new homes abroad again.

Queue the violence and riots.... hope the police, military and private security gets deployed to protect these white guys with their skills.
Doomsday prophet please, lay of the drama, you do know there are white people currently employed by Eskom and performing their duties as we speak?

Yeah, I can see how good they are.... no electricity issues. When you are done smoking your socks, rather take a look at those coming in from abroad to take over and try to fix this mess.

I don't know if they are good or bad but the simple fact is that there are white people at Eskom but the sky hasn't yet fallen, nothing will change if more white people are added.

Let's wait and see firstly, if they indeed bring back enough skilled workers and secondly if your comment highlighted above holds up.

Thanking you for pointing this out citizen. The ANC are aware of the problem and are doing their best to rectify it.

Jokes aside, these guys must be really desperate to resort to bringing the white devils in.

Eskom executes government mandate and that's enforced by the minister.

I am still waiting for the hunger and famine you prophesied was going to befell us after the July riots.

Employment and operational matters are not the business of the minister. This sounds so wrong on many levels if it is indeed the way it is reported, I am very interested in hearing from Gordhan because it doesn't make sense to me.
