About Us

Appenate is a Brisbane-based startup founded by me (lewstherin, old school MyADSLer), building a leading business to business mobility platform, aimed at the IT channel and enterprise.

Our rapidly expanding customer base is increasingly European and US based, which we support via an integrated team anchored out of Australia and South Africa to provide great timezone coverage for our users.

We have embraced the concept of a distributed company, with all staff working either from home or out of co-working spaces.
Around 3 times a year we get the whole team together for a week somewhere, so that we can work and hang out face to face.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a lean, agile and exciting company that is globally focused and working with cutting edge mobile and cloud technologies.
It's also a great lifestyle to skip the grind of daily commutes and have flexibility in your working hours.

Being a small company, we expect all team members to learn fast and work across many aspects.
To join us, you need to be self-starting, disciplined and able to communicate well.
If you don't want to work from home, no problem - we'll cover the cost of a desk at a co-working space near you.

Our preference is to find someone in Durban, but we'll consider applications from anywhere in SA.
We all hang out in HipChat and Skype, so you're in constant contact with the whole team.

You'll be provided with whatever you need to be productive - Macbook Pros are standard for our developers.
This role offers plenty of scope for you to learn and grow as the company expands.

Starting salary is AUD 2000 - 3000 - it really depends on your talent and experience.
And yes, we pay in Australian Dollars, so currency shifts tend to work in your favour ;)

Job Requirements

Our entire code base is C# and we love the language.
We use Xamarin tools for mobile app dev with an ASP.Net, SQL Server backend running on Azure.

Experience with C# is thus a mandatory requirement.

We're also looking for experience with any combination of the following:
- SQL Server
- ASP.Net MVC
- JQuery
- Android dev
- IOS dev
- Windows Phone
- Silverlight
- Xamarin
- Azure
- ServiceStack
- RESTful web services
- MVVM patterns

This looks awesome, how do I apply????

Mail your resume to jobs[at]appenate.com :)

I don't fit the criteria above, but I really want to join you guys?

Enthusiasm and an interesting resume is always welcome, hit us up on the above email and we'll take a look!

C# is very similar to Java. If you have extensive Java experience maybe that could count as the experience needed here. Just do some advanced C# courses on Udemy to get to grips with C#.

Lol - for any developer worth their salt, that's like requiring that they have experience driving a red car.

Considering it is a salary of max R35k I'd say the requirement for C# is well founded. The salary range is for juniors and intermediates. No experienced ("worth his salt") dev will be applying for this.

Considering they are looking for a junior to intermediate dev, it's definitely per month and not per week.

Else, pick me! I'll call myself a junior dev for R35k per week

I'm with you mate - definitely also of the opinion that good developers should be able to pick up any language.

Unfortunately we don't have the time to spare for someone to learn C# syntax on the job, particularly since we use a lot of C# specific constructs that are not necessarily available or the same in other languages.
e.g. lambdas/closures, delegates, Linq, dynamics, expression trees, CLR specific aspects to finalization/garbage collection are all things we leverage heavily.

Code:
while(true){
  Thread.Sleep(5000);
  GC.Collect();
}
?

I've generated and compiled code at runtime long before the .net expression tree APIs (in C/C++ and Pascal). ;).

Hi,

I have some experience with VB.NET as i was a VB.NET Developer a while ago. I am now an Automation Test Analyst for the biggest Independent Software Testing Firm in the world - My primary focus is creation of automated scripts using a Microsoft Tool(CODED UI) which runs purely on C# code :) I have extensive knowledge of C# Language and actually enjoy working with it. Started using C# in University which was 2010. I am actually a fan of Microsoft Products, SQL being another software which i use extensively in my daily tasks. I miss development now :( As much as i have enjoyed testing it does not challenge me like how development would. I would actually like to jump back to development... Would you consider taking an employee on a part-time bases.. After Hours(17:00pm [a href="http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/south-africa/durban"] SAST [/a] for 6 Hours) and Weekends 8 Hours just as a start then at a full time bases if my code quality holds up to the company standard(not that I don't trust my coding skills)
