It looks nice to play, but needs some serious specs. Will have to wait for my new PC's to play it.

I had PC's with the following:

2.0ghz P4
512mb RAM
128mb GeForce FX5200

But a few weeks ago they broke into my house and stole them all! I'm still waiting for the insurance claim to go through. Right now I'm left with a laptop that I borrowed from work. My new PC's should arrive in a few weeks, once the insurance paid for the loss.

i feel like i wasted R300 ...
oblivion was by far a better game ...
game takes 10 seconds to quick save ...
there is no autosave option
combat is tough ... wolves and boars will kill ye quickly if u let them get in just one strike at you ...
flickering textures ....
lighting glitches ...like shadow canvas just being there and then not being there ...

... :(

That's great. Sounds like Gothic 2. You did not want to mess around with nature's animals in Gothic 2 until you where nicely upgraded.

I finally got it. Enjoying it so far. Just a few things

1. This game is really heavy on resources , even on lower settings and it doesn't look as good as Oblivion. [Oblivion runs much better for sure] . Loading times are VERY slow, but once you get past that there doesn't seem to be much loading times and games runs smoothly with a few hiccups when in highly populated areas. Loading times i assume goes with the fact that it loads almost an entire map in one go....i traveled quite a bit to different cities and didn't even have loading times entering them...

2. I played Gothic 1 and 2, this is pretty much all that but with a much larger [and different] world and they expanded on the faction/reputation thing quite a bit to an extend that each city [and theres a whole bunch on my map] you now actually get a reputation value.

3. Combat seems like always to me, slightly better in fact. I don't know what people complain about the combat, the MAIN difference [and vitally important] is you can NOT stand still and just swing and block [like in oblivion]. You actually have to MOVE out of the way [i.e if that wolf lunge you need to strafe and hit it as it jumps past you....this was similar in previous Gothics , you were required to do a bit of manouvering ]

4. I am playing with the 1.08 patch [60MB download]. So didn't notice any bugs yet.

My rig
P4 2.8 ghz
1 GB ram
Nvidia 6600GT

And i am playing on 800x600 and most settings between medium-high. [1024x768 and my machine grinds to a halt].

I had PC's with the following:

2.0ghz P4
512mb RAM
128mb GeForce FX5200

Just btw, my box on the back says MIN requirement is 1GB ram....that gfx card is probably not the best to try Gothic with either. But yea you need one heck of a machine for Gothic3

Some games tend to have various problems with Home, but you have pro so that's not the problem. Have you tried updating your GFX drivers?

yep latest nvidia and creative and direct x software ... i think its the games engine that changes textures and shadows as you move in the game ... looks really bad IMO ...

Try playing with your graphics settings eg. adjust the shadows, dynamic textures etc and see what happens.

Gothic 3's good (once you can get your head past all the bugs). I'm a big fan of the Gothic series and thoroughly enjoyed the previous releases. I'm playing at 1280x1024 resolution atm, most details on high (antistropic off tho), but get a substantial amount of mouse lag. I get the same mouse lag even at lower resolutions and graphic settings. Patch didnt seem to solve anything, nor have tampering with the mouse options both ingame, and driver/application side. That's about my biggest quibble with the game. Otherwise, pretty solid stuff.

Take it to Cash Converters, they'll give you about R200. I sold my Fifa 2007 to them, hated the game. You'll be able to get a fairly good price for G3.

Altough I can't guarantee that you'll get the same as I did, but it's a new game and you should get a good ammount of $$$.
