Government and labour unions working together on "new SAA" plan

South Africa’s Public Enterprises Department and labor unions are working together on a business model for a new national carrier that will replace the embattled South African Airways.

The new airline will be funded through a variety of options such as strategic equity partners, funders and the sale of non-core assets, the Ministry of Public Enterprises said in a statement Wednesday. The parties are still of the view that the state must continue to play a role.

The administrators running SAA had proposed firing the entire workforce to stave off liquidation after a request for state funding was rejected in April.

Cadre deployment rules, a good money laundering setup and a kickback funnel takes time

So the new SAA plan is to loot as much as they can and steal as much as they can?
There is no difference just same old same old

Have our wonderful bright leaders considered this?

Its a global issue ..... if an airline was doomed before, its totally stuffed now

Neither the government or the unions has experience in running an airline. (Other than running it into the ground). Best would be to shut it down (we can save millions on the ministers and their families free flights - yes lets move parliament to Pretoria)? The movement for Cape Colony Independence has over 100k members and growing fast.

Sometimes out of the ashes new airlines would rise.

I feel like I'm being forced to watch a rerun of the 25th season of a very bad soapie.
