The Department of Basic Education plans to pilot its new General Education Certificate for Grade 9 learners later this year, ahead of a full national rollout in 2023.

We are seeing more technical opportunities open again to students. Not everyone needs to follow the university root to be successful.

A local school is pioneering the technical curriculum and I've heard positive results from parents. I remember technical schooling as an option back in the 80s, so the education department is restoring a good idea.
