If they increased the speed limit then no one would notice that there is this place called Bloemfontein inbetween Joburg and Cape Town (cause we all prefer to stop at the farmstalls or Ultra City garages - with delis).

Is videogames not to blame this time?

So my training in Carmageddon and Grand Theft Auto not a consideration?

If you're driving at 60km/h and you're alert then there's almost no situation where you don't have enough time to stop or slow down enough to prevent an accident vs driving 30km/h. If your car has working brakes and your reaction times aren't that of a 100 year old then driving at 30km/h won't make the roads any safer.

Problem is that the roads are full of vroom vroom boys who like go fast. Drunk drivers. Arseholes.

Setting the limit to 30km/h is just going to piss of people who already follow rules and drive mindfully and do fvckall for the tards who think they're "good drivers" and that they can drive however they like.

Aren't there some pretty reliable stats anyway to show that the German autobahn highway, with no speed limit, is one of the safest in the world? Speed doesn't kill, unconscious driving does, and that happens even at 5km/h parking lots.

Twats in the right hand lane of a highway are already snailing at 100KM/h.

Should be illegal to drive slower than 115 in the fast lane.

There is no 'fast lane'. Please learn how a dual carriageway works before making an idiot of yourself.

Minibuses make up less than 10%.

So people on sidewalks arent the problem as taxis are on there.

Yup though you shouldn't have trucks doing 60 in the second lane or 80 in the 3rd lane, once they've passed they should move back. But driving to Samrand last week showed me this isn't the way it goes.
I ended up remaining at 120 by weaving as it was the only way.
Absolutely. I am not sure if it is a don't care or me first attitude or a lack of basic knowledge but it really is quite nuts out there.

You cant compare Germans to locals. Its a very different culture. Here people dont care about the country. There they want it getting better and better.

So here if they upset, they set it on fire.

In Germany if they upset, they improve the system.

So, in your universe, the right hand lane is for camping and having a pot of tea?

No. The innermost lane (right for SA) is for overtaking. Cars should drive as far left as possible and lane change right to overtake.

I have this game I play. If I have a passenger I bet them R5 wherever the car in front will stay in lane 1 or go to lane 2.
Won a few, lost a few.

Usually lane 1 is open but cars still go to lane 2. It's one of life's many mysteries.

It's hard to determine if a car will move to lane 2. Lane 1 will be open as far as the eye can see, nope, car in front went to lane 2.

At 5PM you can do 120KM/h most of the times in lane 1.

Ah so you the guy doing 100KM/h in the far right lane causing a slow down. Move to the second last lane, don't bugger up my momentum for nothing...

PS, most highways in SA are not dual carriage anyway, get schooled son.

On a dual carriageway, I keep left and pass right.

If I'm doing 100km/h in the far right lane, it's to overtake a slower car which was in front of me. I'd also first check right to make sure that a faster car isn't coming up behind me.

If a road isn't a dual carriageway (blue overhead boards) then lane selection is up to drivers.

This "merge with highway doing <60km/hr" BS is hilarious.
I so want to have a rocket launcher on my car to blast any diddling idiots out of the way when I need to merge at speed with traffic on the highway...

I once had somebody come to a dead stop in front of me because traffic was moving too fast for them (on an actual onramp), and they wanted to wait for a gap in the traffic before merging with traffic on the highway....

Why 30 Kirsten? If we make it 10 there will be practically no accidents

Because that's what other cities around the world are doing? Granted, they are European and prioritise pedestrians and cyclists and stuff is walking distance from each other.

Yip. Those cities with functioning public transport and modern infrastructure.

Can we stop pretending this is Europe now?

He asked why 30 and not 10km/h. I know you are upset about this but that's no excuse to completely miss the context of a post and be blinded by your emotions.
