Government plans to allow driver's licence, passport and ID renewals at the Post Office

I'd think the drivers license renewals would be pretty easy to implement as their systems are already integrated for the vehicle licenses.

For all the naysayers, PO isn't replacing home affairs / traffic dept, they're are simply serving as additional points of presence increasing the footprint significantly. I'd much rather pop over to a PO over lunch than take a half day to drive out to the vehicle licensing dept or home affairs office.

Yes please, anything must be better than going to Randburg to renew your driver's.

So, an opportunity for the South African Post Office to loot and pillage driver's licences, passports and ID documents in the same manner that they currently loot and pillage people's parcels?

I honestly don't understand why people think this to be a good idea. For there to be any chance of this actually working, one needs to sort out the rot at the Post Office first, and I'm of the opinion that it's too far gone (not that there's any will to sort out the Post Office in the first place, mind you).

The system is down

Thinks back to the card dept at Jet Park years back. Not even that worked.

Hey, lets try it again ...

Its one of the most aggravating things I had to do post Covid. Receive parcels from the helpful lady at the post office.

they manage to once in awhile to send an sms
And then you stand in line (3-4 people line) for 45-70 min to be told your parcel has not arrived yet.. mind you the sms comes from the very post office that now tells me the parcel is still in transit ...
In all this time the blind lady at the license counter has helped one person.
She must be blind because why the f does it take so long?

I lovingly tweet them the #p03skantoor

Never mind the "cash only sign" next to the card machine. Or "system offline".

Meh!

Losers.

So less workload for home affairs and lisencing departments. So they can turn down there efficiency from 15% to 7%

SAPO is incompetent for the most part and bankrupt, giving SAPO more things that it will not be able to do is like pouring petrol onto a fire.

First sort out the existing problems at SAPO, for instance when you get the the front of a very long queue at the local Post Office and are told that the computers have suddenly developed a down syndrome.
