nothing new

yes in a Continent with some competent people, who actually know how to make rules that make sense.

here all we will get is American Series with translations/dubbing into Zulu and that will satisfy the local content rule.
its all greedy and incompetent ANC rules as per usual.

Do these folks actually have a brain?

We stream for the very reason that we want to watch things not made or available in South Africa.

Why do they always want to force their k@k on us?

and what research shows that South African viewers want a 30% local content quota

Who are these South Africans?

And then we get more nefarious things;

YouTube will not be exempt from regulation under the proposed rules, however, as it will have to abide by local legislation around hate speech, incitement to violence, and the protection of minors.
Who determines what hate speech is and what will be considered hate speech? I don't watch the guy, but how long before someone like Renaldo Gouws gets his channel blocked because some smooth brain decides he is racist for criticising the ANC/EFF?

When is this lot going to realise that trying to legislate stuff like this just does not work.
Just get out of the way and allow things to happen naturally is the only way. Offer subsidies and tax breaks if you must but stop with all this social engineering rubbish.

They wouldn't need to force if it was any good, but it't not...it's all rubbish that people don't want to watch.

but that's the only way the ANC knows, otherwise, people would just ignore their incompetence and carry on with their lives,
and not give them more money to waste on vanity projects like SAA/eishkom, or Prasa, or any of the ANC f*ckUps of late.

It's a huge catalog, I doubt they'd drop content to make up this 30% if it ever happens. So, just skip the kwaito (this is dead now I think unless you're one of those still banging Nkalakata), Afrikaans, Zulu and other local **** you don't want to see. Lol @KFC chomping.

As far as I recall, they tried this with the Film and Publication board. Last i heard, Netflix was still ignoring them about the license fees they were suddenly told they have to pay. You cannot control a company that does not physically operate in your country. Netflix will just stop selling to SA users and we will all be forced to use a VPN or Pirate again. Either way, ANC/SABC/FPB lose. We cannot play with the big boys. They give zero fnucks about SA.
