Its almost as if the South African government has never heard of a VPN.
I know right?

Isn't enough evidence that people, despite having 'free' access to local content they still opt to pay for non local content?

They should, I'll just use the VPN to watch content from wherever I choose, as I did before.

Do people who make these rules every think things through?

If there are 100 SA movies in existence, and Netflix buys the rights to all 100, then Netflix can only ever have 200 Hollywood movies. As soon as they make it 201 Hollywood movies, the SA quota drops below 30%.

Given that there are hundreds of thousands of movies from all over the world, limiting Netflix's catalogue to just 300 because you can only supply 100 movies is plain stupid.

so they cannot manage to run this successfully themselves, but they want to tell others who are successful what to do

you dont tell them, you should listen to them. maar nee, wil nie hoor nie moet eers voel.

here we go again with the nonsense that the ANC begins to cook up,

what next? all Windows PC's sold in SA must have African language installed by Defualt?
Google seems to be on top of that, the google landing page on my phone frequently changes to Zulu, Sotho and Afrikaans.,

Netflix, Google, Apple, and all other tech companies should pull their services from the Country, and tell the Government to go **** themselves.

Idiotic Idea. If everyone required that then Netflix could only be in 3 countries. Either that or massively reduce their catalog. Protectionism is just stupid, and the worst part is Netflix has invested in SA content and this might chase them away completely.

If Netflix was forced to have 30% SA content then I'm sure they would just consider pulling out as our numbers are relatively low compared to other Countries. It's just a ploy to cripple the "opposition". Everything they have done lately seems to point to this. Losers.

I don't think we make enough local content to reach 30% of the Netflix library
