Government reaffirms 30% Netflix local content quota

Pissoff, no one that pays for Netflix want's to watch the local content k@k. Why they got netflix in the first place

With the sheer amount of content on Netflix, this a limited number of ways this stupidity can play out:

1. Reduce the SA catalog significantly, so it's easier to reach 30%
2. Withdraw from SA

Since option 1 will likely cause mass cancelation, what's the point. They will ultimately go for option 2.
VPN it

Exactly, Netflix doesn't have to do anything. They won't start buying local content so they can service out tiny subscriber base. Very likely, they'll withdraw the service locally if the numbers don't work out.
Honestly, it's embarrassing being a South African these days. Such a shame.
Nah they'll just cutback on content drastically, they'll just not buy 3rd party licenses for content for the African market and cycle Netflix exclusives in and out of their catalogue and if imagine they'll purchase rights to old South African shows for dirt cheap from the SABC

Yeah, **** that ****. Isidungo, 7de Stiklandlaan. Kak. Like the SABC...

Here's a song for the ruling government, pertaining to these expensive shitshows they are running or have a vested interest in (SAA / SABC / EFF)

Let it go! Let it go!

The idiots have a monopoly on SABC.
They wrecked it.
As every other SOE.
They are too bloody stupid to do anything never mind use a brain cell.
Stealing is their greatest achievement.

Government are just full of good ideas.... :X3:

According to this Netflix has 5419 titles available in South Africa, so according to government if they want to maintain this number they'll need to provide 1625 local titles.

I'm not exactly how titles are measured, is every season of an a series a title or is every show its own title?
