IRC is still very much alive and despite what many people think it's super easy to use. Discord is very limited when it comes to file transfers, plus it's extremely easy for a Discord channel to get banned/nuked for linking illegal content in it.

Must check it out, used to use BitchX client way back when.

I'm curious... where are all these South African piracy websites, anyway (asking for a friend)?

Me too, could have saved a great deal of international transit, and been faster to boot.

Or they such a well kept secret, they exist in the ministers imagination only.

The South African government plans to crack down on illegal file-sharing and streaming websites in South Africa.

“The draft white paper proposes that legislation impose requirements on ISPs to cooperate with rights-holders and government to police illegal file-sharing or streaming websites,” Mashile said.

That is how the government does everything, force the private sector to do their work for them. Exactly what the SABC is planning, they cannot collect TV license fees, so force DSTV and Netflix to collect for you since they will actually be able to do it.
