Government wants one big mobile network for everyone

Government wants to control internet, but can't because of obvious reasons.
Government clowns go to China for some telecommunications "stuff".
Government comes back and suddenly wants to set up national internet.

Yeah, that all seems totally above board. Totally.

This is exactly what Vodacom and MTN do not want .
They have their advantage and they are playing it to the max . (oob shark etc .)
If this comes in to being vodacom and MTN stock will lose more that 50% over night .
This will be in court for ever if vodacom and MTN have their way .

If i may ask has this been brought about by ellipsis ? (own up )

In an ideal world this is great and i applaud who ever drafted this , but this is SA and graft and corruption is the order of the day .

In principle I support this white paper. It starts to address issues that many on MyBB have fought for for plenty of years.

On the face of it, I'm not totally against the idea...

I have not read through the White Paper yet, but I can assume there will be control issues that will need to be ironed out. It will be disastrous if the government is the one with the ultimate final control over something like this in my opinion.

yes. of course the devil is in the detail but it amazes me how many folks on this board would embrace another 15 years of bitching about the mobile networks...

[and to those raising the very real issue of ease of controlling access if there is only one network - do you really think the mobile networks don't currently cave in to government requests?]

Of course they currently cave, to a large degree but I would assume there is a bit of independence and certain retarded government requests are rebuffed.

This is in effect the nationalization of telecoms IMO. They have now gone full retard...
