Why don’t they just start properly enforcing road laws even if only via video surveillance and like magic the RAF requirements will go down while the municipality coffers fill up like never before! (Don’t pay fine.. go sit in jail even if you a ceo)

2ndly being a taxi driver is not a human right and if they abuse traffic laws they should get permanent bans. Fix that, slap on mandatory 3rd party insurance, taxis caught driving badly resulting passengers getting fined, passengers jay walking, loitering to get taxis outside of designated or safe areas getting fined and BAM! Large chunk of tax gone

2ndly make taxi associations & businesses responsible for their customer/employees getting find for loitering.

Also all public transit vehicles have to pay for insurance on their passengers.. guess who doesn’t pay. Owners of personal transit.

Lastly.. got an eTag? Guess what u don’t pay for the road maintenance part of the petrol price either. Similar for life/disability insurance.

Lastly I wouldn’t remove the the raf, road funds from the petrol price but rather people can file for a rebate.. why?

Because people in SA esp taxi industry don’t declare income.. want your rebate? Declare your income!

The RAF the bane of our existence, instead of the government having working hospitals and mandatory insurance we have this.

No to the etag, the money is not going to road maintenance.

I like the changes, the system should be updated from time to time to show changes in SA import countries and product choices.

I also think that the slate balance should only account for oil imports and not product imports. The refiners claim that they need import parity prices to keep the refineries open, but then import petrol and diesel.

I don't agree with it. They're making someone else take the knock for reducing the price, not themselves. Why aren't they reducing taxes instead of the other components?

BFP is half, and taxes are 1/3. That means they're squeezing the remaining 1/6. Then again squeezing the minority comes naturally to them, they already do it with income tax...

"Take the knock"? The oil companies don't actually pay the prices which are used to calculate the basic fuel prices. All that this change does is bring the government projection of cost inline with what these companies actually pay.

Ofc they would want to change it now. Now that we're on decline for the increases. We're in for some nice decreases and now they want to change it

Sorry you're kind of right, the freight and storage cost is actually part of the BFP. But that cost is not on the oil companies AFAIK...

The proposals include making Singapore the main reference market for the basis price of gasoline, diesel and kerosene...

Breaking away from the Dollar in determining price?

These guys don't understand the concept of Cross-Currency calculations it would seem...as always, not tackling the true reason as to why the Petrol Price is so high and trying to toddler their way around the problem.

Oh dear, SAA must need a BIG bail-out.
No comment cANCer, except to say, GFY Ramadingdong, you and your entire party can go sit on it and rotate until the sun don't shine anymore.
