Oh, would you look at that, more hot air. I'm surprised half of government haven't been thrown into the atmosphere with the thermal lift that all their mutterence has surely created

He is right, and he will affect policy.
I like it when ministers publish their future actions.

Just another talk shop. Government is always big on talk and short on implementation - except when it needs to get money from its citizens.

headline is perhaps a little strong :)

i am happy to see this as the competition authorities probably remain our best bet for real action

With the amount of abiding dedication i see from "grandmasters" to this internet forum, I am surprised that they themselves had not formed some sort of telecommunications company by now. Its very easy to criticize companies and governments, especially if you don't realize the amount of planning, patience, and effort required in order to implement these infrastructures. Just a thought.

Its just as easy to talk about how you plan to improve things without sticking to a timeframe...

If they had those qualities, they wouldn't be grandmasters here :)

It is just as easy, maybe even easier, to sit back and allow governments and corporations to steamroller over you and your rights.

Just a thought.

So, just so I've got this right, Trade and Industry thinks there should more competition in amongst other things telecoms. Public Enterprises wants to set up Infraco, which is trying to keep the assets that Neotel was going to own, but the Communcations won't let them - or is that ICASA. Now ICASA is getting targetted by the President for poor delivery, but Communications appoints key people in ICASA. Seems like there is plenty of competition, in the government.

Hello Mr Left hand, I'd like to introduce you to Mr Right hand...

I'm sorry I saw the words DTI - the same people that can't even get the National Lottery going again - burst out laughing and didn't read the article past there.

Let see a summary on the DTI:
- haven't restarted SMEDP
- haven't gotten the new companies act signed off
- have landed Infraco in a quagmire.
- can't say when the Lottery will be running again
And let's not forget the Irwin/Koeberg Sabotage debacle.

In short an ambitious department that is seriously lacking in delivering results.

I think it's about time for some new legislation! When a person wants to sit in parliament or perform some political roll they should first have an IQ test done. This will establish if that person can actual think intelligent thoughts or if they are consumed with "breathe in, breath out".

Pity the average person that votes for these idiots can't even spell IQ.
