GRAW (saix) Server

I'm new to online gaming so forgive me if these questions are dumb.

1) How do I connect to GRAW on the SAIX server?

2) How do I ping a server listed on SAIX? i.e. what exactly do I type in the dos prompt, cause when I ping 196.4.79.20:15250; I get the message "could not find host"

just ping the name/ip address and leave out the port number etc ping saix.net/ ping 196.4.79.20 (if that host exists)

Why is there never anyone on GRAW saix server?
am I the only person that went out and bought an original copy of GRAW?

Its so funny, everyone complains about steam, but because of it we all have original copies of HL2, all games should have something like steam. So South Africans might start buying original games.
