so the top and bottom 1/3's of the tv shows green dots that covers about 20% of those 2/3's. The middle 1/3 is fine. This now happens when cold and clears up when the tv warms up after about 5-10 minuts. The tv is around 2 1/2 - 3 years old. Can this be fixed or is the tv on the way out and its time for a new one ?

Time for a new one. Your panel is busted and if it happened while still under warranty you'd get a new TV...but I'm guessing you only had a 2 year warranty.

have you tried pressing the liquids with your index finger? don't press to hard but sometimes the liquid covers the area of the green dot and then it goes away.. works for me.. But if you have red dots they will be there permanently.

A friend of mine had a projector that had a similar problem... After removing some of the PCBs and cleaning them and resoldering a few ICs, the problem was fixed :)

This is after the agents said it was stuffed. They generally don't do much repairs on TVs and similar electronics anymore, unless is a straight PCB swap out, and often the replacement part is almost the same price as the TV. :(
