Hi the Greencom guys just swapped out the old router with a mikrotik router but they left without telling me the username and password. anyone with any ideas? its not the default one - they changed it

needless to say their support is non existent even if they claim they have support to 8 PM on weekdays and 2 pm on weekends no one picks up the phone! this is false advertising on their behalf!

Update: Greencom require you to sign a rather dodgy looking indemnity form before they give you access to the router which you paid for.

I have the same problem, where do you get this form?

contact Greencom 0100 105 405 and ask to be put through to support. Explain to the support guy that you want access and he will ask you to fill in the form. Assure them you can do the config:)

Makes perfect sense, they are covering themselves as the Mikrotik is a pretty advanced device and it will be more trouble than it's worth in support time if users were to mess it up often.

So I wouldn't call it dodgy at all.

They implement a managed device...and you want to have it unmanaged (self-supported) that is your problem then.

Sure I can understand covering themselves from a technical point of view but below is an extract from the letter they want me to sign:

"For the purposes of this indemnity, “liability” shall include any and all claims, losses, fines, damages, expenses and liabilities. The Subscriber hereby indemnifies GREENCOM, its officers, employees, agents and representatives, and holds them harmless against:
any liability arising as a result of any claims by any governmental authority or any other party for non-compliance by the Subscriber with any act of Parliament, law, ordinance, regulation or by-law made by a lawful authority provided that such compliance is required for the implementation of this Agreement;"

To get access to a router why on earth is there a sentence like that. thats dodgy anyway you look at it.
