Hi. Anyone interested in a group buy please pm me. Im ordering the B593u-91 unlocked from souq.com in Saudi Arabia. Its a mobily branded model but has been unlocked. They use the same frequency as TM. Only no external antennas in the box. Price R1100 excluding shipping and customs.

Check http://saudi.souq.com/sa-en

Shipping is free, so what's the point of group buying?

Also, it works out to R910 not R1100.

Yes shipping is free for local delivery if you care to read the fine print!

Unless Totempole u live in Saudi you out of luck!

So the group buy is for us living further south.

Also, the unit i'm looking at (unlocked version) costs SR399 which works out to R1040 at the current exchange rate.

What happens if we experience OBF(out of box failure), then we have to pay for shipping etc.

I am keen but very skeptical to part away with money like if I have no guarantee the product will reach destination

Remember there are more cost involved shipping the product to South Africa with insurance(parcel is weight, goes according to size of box), then paying important duties(customs) which could vary 5%-40% of price value paid, then a local logistics company in South Africa to deliver the product at your door. Could be around R1700 - R2000 if you lucky.

Free shipping only applies within the country.

Telkom launched prepaid modems today and the following deals can be found for the B593:
With a Telkom Mobile Internet 5GB - R2649
With the 25GB +25GB Internet - R3299
With the 60GB + 60 GB Internet - R4099

Great. It's better to go local for the backup guys! Any idea how long the modem is covered for?

2 years, it is starting to become industry standard across the board.

I will go back to Telkom Direct/Telkom Mobile store over the weekend to see if they have stock but without the bundle. If they sale it for R2000 K will definitely purchase it

Wow! That was certainly a bargain then at that price. What is the confirmed sub model? (u-91??) I seriously want to get a U-22 for LDD 1800/2100MHz use.

Your other option is to buy the cheapest Voda contract (I think R169pm) for a Vodafone B2000 (rebranded B593-12). I've got one and it works on both Voda and MTN LTE (but not Telkom Mobile).
