Guess who’s going to Davos

It costs nearly R500,000 to attend the WEF’s annual conference, but this price tag did not deter some South African telecoms execs and government officials

That actually a pretty decent list.

As for cost...who cares. Davos makes actual sense for SA - so 5 mil is OK for sending some ministers. Better for SA than say spending a quarter of a billion on a house for the chief sangoma.

Shame, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters doesn't get to attend a WEF annual conference and to think that he could have taken care of that king Zumatello problem or visa versa.

Better luck next year.

Not a fan either, but we can't send a dozen ministers and not the prez.

I'm glad they didn't send any ministers from weird dept though - like traditional affair or the womans dept one.

This is unusually sloppy reporting by myBB. According to Hilton Tarrant, government ministers are invited and do not have to pay to attend. Only private sector delegates have to pay, from their own (or their companies') pockets.

Awkward...

why not?
we can send the 6 ministers who actually have something to add and to gain in the talks and half the costs; sending Davies is actually a waste despite the ministry he holds (unless there is an intention to go on a really dangerous ski trip in the Alps)
