For those that want to know:
The steps to follow:
1. Prepare phone.
2. Download ODIN - for the flashing of images
3. Rooting your phone - will use CF-Auto-Root
4. Flashing a custom recovery - will use TWRP
5. Flashing a custom ROM - will use Phronesis ROM (Note 5 port)
Step 1: Prepare Phone
1. Backup whatever you need to back up. <- very important this one. Don't come crying if you lose something.
2. Go to Settings -> About phone -> and click several times on build number (until developer options is enabled)
3. In developer options, enable USB Debugging.
Step 2: Download ODIN
1. Download link here.
2. Extract into folder somewhere (I normally put it on my desktop).
Step 3: Rooting your phone
1. Download CF-Auto-Root from here: Chainfire Link
2. Extract the *.tar.md5 file.
3. Put phone in download mode, like so:
-3.1. Switch off your device completely. (Don't have it plugged in to the computer or charger)
-3.2. Now, press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power, all at the same time.
-3.3. Release all buttons when you see the Warning! screen.
-3.4. Next, press the Volume Up button to confirm that you want to boot into Download Mode for your Note 3 device.
4. Connect to computer via USB cable.
5. Start ODIN from its folder.
6. In the message box at the bottom left, make sure it says "Added". This means your phone has be recoginised by ODIN.
7. Select AP on the right hand side, and browse to the extracted *.tar.md5 file of CF-Auto-Root
8. Select Start
9. After installation the phone will restart, and be rooted.
10. Profit.
Step 4: Loading a customer recovery
1. Download TWRP from here
2. Put phone into download mode and connect to ODIN again as per above.
3. Load *.img.tar file into ODIN, the same as per above (Select AP on the right side)
4. Select Start
5. After installation the phone will restart, with customer recovery installed.
6. Profit.
Step 5: Flash the custom ROM (Phronesis)
1. Download Phronesis from here
2. Download Phronesis patch from here
3. Copy the two files as is to your phone's extSD
4. Turn off your phone (Make sure you have everything backed up, after this you'll have a clean phone)
5. Boot phone into recovery
-5.1. Switch off your device completely. (Don't have it plugged in to the computer or charger)
-5.2. Now, press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power, all at the same time.
-5.3. Release all buttons when you see the phone starting.
-5.4. You should be in recovery now.
5. Select Wipe
6. Select Advanced Wipe
7. Select Dalvik cache, System, Cache, Date, Internal Storage (NOT external storage, this is your extSD)
8. Swipe to confirm
9. Select Install
10. Browse to where you have placed the files
11. After selecting the .zip file, do “Swipe to Confirm Flash” on the bottom of screen to begin the custom ROM installation process. This may take some time.
12. During installation it will ask you some customization options, select whichever you require.
13. Browse to where you have placed the patch
14. After selecting the patch .zip file, do “Swipe to Confirm Flash” on the bottom of screen to begin the custom ROM installation process. This may take some time.
15. After installation, reboot. This can take up to 10-15minutes, so be patient.
16. Profit
