Relax buddy. If you actually go check my past posts you'd probably notice I am more against crime that most on this forum.

sigh. Tactlessness is my forte lately. I realise you're against crime, but I didn't see the point of distinguishing between a value mart and a mall. Atterbury value mart is a group of shops clustered together in a 'park' just across from Menlyn shopping mall. It's still a shopping center, and is almost as large as Centurion mall was back when it was called Verwoerdburgstad.

Be that as it may, the remark wasn't meant to be the focal point of my post. Criminals are raising their profile ever more; even embassies are not safe.

Well, if you've EVER BEEN to Tyger Valley shopping mall, you should know that the Standard Bank is located in the Missisippi Detour and that, if you're standing 'outside', you're actually still 'inside' the mall.

Yes, I'm still wondering if 'glamour' movies, like Tsotsi, didn't spark the whole crime thing in SA.

Remember the time when they used to use metal detectors in Tygervalley....will those make a return now?

This is not the first time this has happened at Tygervalley.

Some years ago same thing happened at the back of the centre where the skatepark is (not long after that whole area was finished), nobody got hurt though... just some really frightened people that were held hostage for a bit, IIRC.

Canal Walk has also been a target, the checkers / woolies entrance. Not a lot of noise about it though.
