GWM C10 - Clutch Spares - Advice needed

Ave!

My mom has a GWM C10 (it was given to her some years ago). It looks like her clutch plate will need to be replaced. GWM wants to charge her R4600 (not sure if VAT is included) for the part only and apparently there are no other options or clutch kits available (Thank you China!). I had the same issue when we did the front breaks.

Any advice where I can find an alternative option for the clutch kit or is GWM my only option for spares?

(I've phoned a spare shop. They say as a last option, I can consider recondition the clutch. But replacing it will be better of course. Any advise also on that please?)

Also will it be worth to sell the vehicle and buy another second hand vehicle or won't we get much for it? It is still in good condition (except for the clutch and general maintenance, I think around 70 000 km's)

谢谢

Try Bosch service center.

Find a good mechanic, drop the box, take out the clutch disc pressure plate release bearing and look around some motor spares shops.

I found a shop that has some indian and chinese parts, Kotwals. Not sure if there is one in your area.

Gumtree maybe? for reasons best known to someone else my Corsa had a different type of engine mount in the front, went all over guys telling me its like hens teeth. Eventually got it off a creepy backyard mechanic on Gumtree

Also try a different GWM, you might be surprised, a number of times, I once called to ask for a price of a part, given a figure then went there and given a totally different price since they are not aware I called earlier, It was way cheaper than what I was quoted over the phone.

Gearbox is probably pulled from some other model.
Call Alert or some of these big spares guys.

I can try gumtree but I don't have money to gamble.

Don't recondition. Reconditioned clutches don't last very long.

Thanks. This will be a last option if I can't find something affordable. R5K + installation will not be affordable. I have contacted Alert and will see if they have something available.

Must be possible to get spares, I mean the Chinese don't build their own clutches and mechanical bits of a car,

They just copy anything and everything.

So if you find out what your hatchback is based on, I reckon a clutch kit of its clone will probably fit.

Where do I find this information. GWM is not very helpful. Wonder if it is not based on the Toyota Yaris. Will see what Alert say. I don't know many spare companies besides the local ones.

You won't find such information. Some cars share parts but the price will often differ based on the make of the vehicle even if the part is identical. Maybe the easiest solution is to remove the clutch and go to the spares shop and compare it to the Yaris, possibly the 1.3l.

I think this will be the best solution then and take it from there.
