I thought that was the whole point of buying a cheap Chinese car and not some DSG machine, now there's no point anymore if the clutch is R4600.

If you know the part number, search on Amazon and Amayama for the part. Will probably save a few grands importing it yourself.

Its a numbers game. If you buy a cheap car, buy the car everyone buys like a polo. millions on the road. Spares available at agents, midas , autozone and goldwagen. You have masses being sold brining the price down with good competition.

If you buy a entry level car that is not sold in numbers the parts prices will be expensive.

R4600 for a clutch is nothing. its not expensive. Spending R4600 on a car you got for free sounds like a bargain.
Just keep with a OEM clutch.
No thanks. I don't have R4600 + installation probably R1 500, if I can get something better or equivalent for much cheaper.

But I agree, a lot of people want something for free but don't realise that it requires maintenance. GWM is pathetic with their prices. If I have another option I will want to avoid them.

No luck so far with alternatives?

The other thread regarding OEM and aftermarket reminded me..... Moms car went in to a place that was suggested to them by a friend. They did the clutch with a kit + labour at R5500. I wasn't much involved. I asked mom she must find out what they used but they only tell her it was aftermarket. I don't understand because none of the other places can find aftermarket GWM parts. They said her shocks will also need to be replaced but it will cost around 10K sourced from GWM, they will try to find aftermarket but say it might not be possible..... Argh!
