George Hotz is quickly becoming the poster-hero for every teenage geek around the world.
In what sounds like every teenager’s dream or at the very least the script to a B-grade teen movie, the 17-year-old soon-to-be-college-student who hacked the iPhone free from its AT&T chains is about to swap his prized possession for something more valuable – a $US40,000 Nissan Z350 sports car.
George Hotz, who has managed to gain instant fame and who will likely become the poster-hero for midnight-to-dawn caffeine-fed geeks around the world, has agreed to swap his unlocked iPhone for the car from cellphone repair company, CertiCell boss, Terry Daidone.
The deal also includes three more 8GB iPhones, which will no doubt be unlocked at some point.
Hotz has also landed himself consulting work with CertiCell and PureMobile, a US cellphone retailer that specialises in unlocked cellphones.
