Plumbing isn't easy either and it's very lucrative.

Shall we make that a matric subject as well ?
Yes, we already have too many years of schooling that are not beneficial for school leavers, the sooner they are introduced to practical things, the more interest they would have is something that has a potential of making their lives better.

The challenge will always be if there are teachers to teach those subjects, if yes then go for it.

Nothing wrong with offering it. It'll count for schit towards a university entrance, but for those who don't have the aptitude for university and have no intention of going to one, it's better than nothing.

At least it'll get them spending less time on Tik Tok so they don't eventually end up on tik...
Or spend more time on tik tok perfecting their trade, I find it very informative for my DIY interests.

The problem is who and where are these teachers coming from.
In order to be taught you need teachers and ones who know the subject and that can teach.

Or is it going to be people like angie and cele that can't put a sentence together let alone teach

There are teachers currently who are teaching similar type of subjects, so they can find them. A relative who is a teacher told me there is a certificate course offered at higher learning institutions for educators who are not teachers by profession, so an FET college plumbing graduate can do thus course and go teach at a school.

I think that's the best way of going about it, since we have many FET graduates.

I know a hairdresser she nets 90+ a month. Brazilian blowouts are popular.
Business and communication skills will also help because that is the difference between being a hairdresser and being a hairdresser who makes a lot of money.

How long do we have to wait for schools to teach kids about financial literacy/investing and taxes? The latter will probably never happen, because then the gov won’t be able to steal from us as much as they do now. The former should be a no-brainer.
What do they teach in LO?

There's already too many hair dressers and office administrators. The idea had merit but they really should be trying for something that can add more value than just another hair dresser for the side of the street. Office admins are some of the most employed by corrupt ANC municipal administrators even hospitals spent too much on those instead of clinical staff. Done so because it's easier to hirer those in jobs for pals than professionals.

What do they teach in LO?
Some stuff about diseases (TB, HIV, etc), sex, religions, how to study, NQF levels, self-image etc. That's all I can remember from Matric anyway... Nothing really useful or interesting...

All of that **** isn't even done in depth. LO is regarded as an off period whether you have theory or practical.

No idea. I've asked many teenage beggar kids whether their mother gets a grant for them. When I ask where the mother gets the money from, they say the bank. When I ask where the bank gets the money from, they have no clue. So schools are definitely not saying where the taxpayer fits in.

You get hairdressers on every corner and you get Master Stylists thinly spread. There is a shyteload of difference between the two and a massive income disparity.

Understood and I guess that if you want a good teacher you need a Master Stylist and they will not come cheap BUT maybe as a community service and as long as the kids behave (ha ha). Same for other more practical subjects - you need really good "trades people" and for them to be reasonable at passing the knowledge on.
