Then how come people complain about steam?

...Actually why do they complain, my nerd dork friends always complain about steam and say its so kak... but I never understand why?

Probably because your "nerd dork friends" are living in mommy's basement, using her 384 line and don't have real jobs.

Just a thought.

This is a fact...

Good to know :)

Steam is the renowned and much-loved digital distribution platform of Valve (the developers behind the Half-Life series). The only people who have issues with it are those who are stuck on capped accounts and/or 384 lines.

To get Blueshift and/or Opposing Force, you will need to get it through Steam.

If you have decent internet access, grab the Half-Life Complete Pack on Steam for $40 (R320).

You'll need it regardless.

I suspect that you are a troll but fine here goes... Steam is an online digital content distribution service. Having said that you can buy games from them. After which the Steam client will download all the required files for the games you bought, install those games and then you can play them.

Well I do not know much about steam.. Do you download ISOs from it or what? Can't he copy it out of steam?

He can, but you'd only be able to use it if you've bought them on Steam yourself, courtesy of Steam's encryption.

Steam is a digital distribution platform, not a torrent client. It's essentially a glorified launcher.

Opposing Force is 180MB and Blue Shift is 260MB. Do the math depending on your own line-speed and it should be fairly self-explanatory.

So many games from different distributors can be bought on Steam? Okay that's awesome, but how big do you think that complete Half Life set will be?

Can I have my own account and use the credit card of another person to purchase, or will there Credit card information be stored on that steam account?

And just a side note, what is your opinions on the Black Mesa game?

Charlikins101 I have an extra copy of HL1 on my steam that I'll give to you mahala. Just create yourself an account and post your steam username here. As to the size of the complete Half Life set - I'm not 100% sure :(

Rather do not use some one else's credit card info unless you have to. If you have access to an android/blackberry get yourself a VCpay account https://www.vcpay.co.za/ - it allows you to 'generate' your own personal credit card number.

If you buy the game pack, you don't need to download all of them in one go. Download Half Life first and then the rest over a period of time if you have a crappy line.
