The Galaxy S8 no longer has a “flat” variant. Therefore it is more accurate to compare its price against that of Galaxy S7 Edge at launch – which was between R15,399 and R15,999 for a 32GB model.
Yet it is replacing the flat version, therefore it should be compared in price to the S7.

How easy is it to hold the phone?
Can it be used one-handed?
How easy it is to reach the transplanted fingerprint sensor?
You could pick nearly any other phone with a sensor then, e.g. the LG G6 flagship, the LG V20. Both of those options are way cheaper.

Bad reasoning, rather do a proper review.

Nice preview. Not many people test one-handed typing, which I like to use.

A bit difficult to do a thorough review at a launch event. Don't be an ass!

Useful first impressions, Jan. You should do more in-depth reviews, then they give you the new handsets and you don't have to sign a 24 month contract. (Not that there are not enough other reasons not to, but that is your problem!)

G6 seems easier for everyday use.

I'm actually surprised there's no sub 5.5" option.

I know many people that consider even 5.5" too big.

Well the width of the smaller one is about the same as most 5.5" phones, if not a bit less, if the S7 Edge is anything to go by.

No resolution to get this phone.

Wait for the iPhone 8 that will blow the word away and since we are talking contracts they all cost the same

"The biggest gripe I have is that the curved edge has a tendency to pick up unwanted touches when using the device one-handed, especially when reclining or lying down".

Lying down using the phone with one hand?? What WERE you doing Jan?

That price!

I'm convinced we will see R50k phones in this lifetime

Hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy S8 – Why it would be my next phone

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones are incredible, and I got to test them at their launch event in New York.

BTW, from Ars Technica
"
The devices aren't as big as the screen sizes suggest. The 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 is pretty compact, and it isn't much wider than the Galaxy S7. The bigger 6.2-inch S8+ had a body only a hair bigger than my 5.5-inch Pixel XL. They are both totally normal phone sizes, one "small" and one "big." The taller aspect ratio inflates the screen size, but the body size isn't changing much.

I see what you did there (I wonder if anyone else did ).

I thought of other ways to write that line, and ended up adding "reclining" to be less suggestive :crylaugh:

I'd have gone with: "The biggest gripe I have is that the curved edge has a tendency to pick up unwanted touches when using the device one-handed, especially when ;) on the go ;) ".
