I can get a pretty sweet deal on a used ASUS MZ27AQ Designo 27" 1440p 16:9 IPS display, seems these things sold for almost R10k when they arrived in 2017. On paper it looks perfect for my uses, photo editing primarily, it's a high res screen with 100 percent sRGB covereage and 77 percent AdobeRGB, granted not the best from that perspective but getting higher Adobe RGB coverage costs insanse amounts of money. It will be an upgrade from my current 16:10 24" Dell UltraSharp U2410 Monitor, which is getting on in years but it's still a nice monitor. The thin bezels on the 27" Asus means it's hardly much bigger than the 24" Dell so no issues with placement or desk space.

Here are the specs: https://www.asus.com/Monitors/MZ27AQ/specifications/

I’ve had one for the last two years. I mostly game and browse on it, but I think the colours are really good/vibrant compared to other monitors I’ve used. The design, size and resolution are perfect for me.

Cons: you can’t mount it, the built in speakers are average, and it’s refresh rate is only 60hz.

10k when new might be a stretch. I think it was 6k when I bought it. Still very happy with it.

Do you find you can see the pixels from normal working distance 50cm odd?

On my 1080p 24" I can just see the pixels, which gives you that slight blocky vibe, I'd love to get to the apple retina type display pitch where is pixels can't be discerned.

I think the ppi is high enough so as not to bother me, but you'll probably notice smaller text is not as clear as on an iPhone or Macbook. I had a Dell Ultrasharp at work with the same size and resolution, and I prefer the MZ27AQ. The colour & design just pops more.

Was it the 27" 1440p Dell or the 24" 1080p?
