Has anyone used C-Fibre from Cell C?

Our hood has gone live on Vumatel and I'm weighing up the ISP's, with uncapped packages from Cell C and Cool Ideas seeming to be worth considering.

The Pro's for Cell C are the cost savings - they carry the fiber installation, ISP connection and provide a router. However, if you cancel within 12 months then you're liable for those costs. Cool Ideas's monthly subs are R50 cheaper, with no 12-month tie-in, but the client pays the R1700 installation fee.

Is Cell C's service trustworthy enough to warrant the 12-month commitment?

I am going to get the Cell C Fibre 100Mbit/100Mbit uncapped. I am just waiting for Vumatel to go live and start the installations into the homes

Hi flarkit - am considering the same on my FTTH install - have you made any decision yet? @Hein_JHB - what's your experience been so far?

I went with Cool Ideas, since they waive the R999 ISP fee, and don't have a lock-in period to repay the cost of the supplied router. No issues so far!

Cell C service is generally good in terms of upload/download speeds and availability on Vumatel. However, they flash the software on the Huawei B315s router which means that you cannot use a VoIP phone service like Freshphone (freshphone.co.za). Freshphone allows one to get rid of Telkom and have a telephone line without the monthly rental fees. Freshphone call rates are also cheap and charged on a per second prepaid cost.

This restriction was not mentioned at the time of signing up and also on on their Ts&Cs. That's the only disappointment.
