Hatchback weatherstrip sealant/adhesive

I have a hatchback that had some work done on it. The body shop stuck the old weatherstrip around the hatch back without adhesive / sealant or whatever they paint on the bodywork before putting the strip back. What should be used on the bodywork edge before putting the rubber weatherstrip back? I'm looking for a specific recommended product.
I heard sikaflex has a product, I just don't know which is the preferred product. Thanks in advance!

Are you talking about the boot lid seal weatherstrip? That doesn't usually use glue there should be barbs or clips in the weatherstrip. A pic may help.

No.. that is to install a windscreen..

I have never heard of or seen a product for use when installing the rubber weather strip.. the strips or friction fit for the most part and the seal is made by the force of the boot or car door being closed and the latch..
I've seen it applied. It's more of a tacky black stuff that was painted on. As you can see it's there on the existing metal (though mostly cleaned off).
As I say that I see my pic wasn't very good. Will post a new one.
I'm mostly concerned about corrosion so I might just mask and tectyl.

It's got a rubber feel but it's tacky

Flip. These bodyshops.
Just removed the rear seat and seen that they didn't even take the time to clean properly.

Even a shard of old windshield glass lying there under the seat.

It's got a rubber feel but it's tacky
That seal is never glued on, sometimes there is some non hardening seam sealer in that area which is what you may be thinking of but it's not necessary.

I think that's very much it. I won't open what the shop gave me, it's definitely going back. Any idea what the seam sealer is? I live at the coast so can't afford any moisture, even air, in the seam.

It's a special paste probably made by 3M and hell expensive.

I'd put some techtyl in there as you mentioned previously but it's not really a rust prone area under that seal, especially not on vehicles made after 2000 with decent anticorrosion coatings, even if you live near the sea.

Except this vehicle has had some panelbeating so I don't want to take chances. Tectyl it is then. Thanks!
