A brilliant psychologist and specialist in hate crime and violence in South Africa was brutally butchered and had her throat slit in her own home by a gang of armed robbers.

Leading scholar Dr Mirah Wilks was ambushed and attacked by the men who had waited until her husband Frank left to worship at the local synagogue, leaving her home alone.The group had climbed up onto the roof and removed tiles and dropped down inside the house and stabbed Mirah at least twelve times in the chest and back then cut her throat.

Reading the comment section, you can see the UK people don't really understand crime in our country. These people don't know and understand violent 'petty' crime. Disconnected.

It may be that she tried a ‘technique’ learned through her studies which may have caused a violent reaction.

A 72 year old man is an easy target makes no sense to waste the potential opportunity of getting another cellphone and some additional cash.

Though that is pure speculation. Article says police suspect the suspects waited. No actual evidence they did, might be they just got "lucky" in their timing.

Regardless, I hope the coppers find them and the truth comes out. Can't say it will be a bad thing either if they end up in shootout with the police and come out on the losing team.

Why can't this just be another brutal, savage hate attack on a defenseless elderly woman by a bunch of opportunistic cowards who've been watching their every move for some time? In fact why don't we all send stuff like this to the likes of her majesty Zindzi Mandela to show her exactly who the cowards are in this country?

This is actually beyond savage.

And can't imagine how terrified she must have been hearing the tiles being removed from her roof. That alone makes one hell of a noice. I should know because they tried to get into my house the same way.

Neither is it conspiracy to say the murder may have been a hit or she knew the murderers. It's based on proven studies that show that most murders are committed by people who know the victim and the reporting in this case makes it look like they wanted to kill her (in addition to robbing her or making it look like a robbery)
