Hauwei telkom router + telkom dongle - URGENT HELP PLS

I have a Hauwei telkom router which i got with ADSL Telkom package.
It also included telkom dongle with sim.
However the two cannot seem to work together.

My brother in law had exact same setup and was struggling too.
He eventually tried his old 8ta dongle and it worked.

Can someone pls tel me how to get this to work.
I would really like to have this setup working while on camp from this weekend on

ok, so i took this router to telkom and was told that the TELKOM branded router and TELKOM branded 3g dongle don't work together.
when i asked why on earth would they sell me this together as a package but it was not compatible, i was told it's never intended to be used together... WT..... .... really TELKOM... that a new low man... what's the use of having a router with 3g fallover where the fallover .. falls over ...

@TELKOM... will you rememdy the situation or do i need to escalate to ICASA?
