I got scammed out of R10,900 a week ago. I'm used to fake proof of payments constantly being sent to my business, so this guy said he would come and do the EFT in front of me and do an immediate payment.

I watched him log onto his Nedbank internet banking right in front of me. He entered the correct banking details for my account. I double checked the account number. He did the payment and I watched the "payment successfull" screen come up. He then whatsapped it to me right in front of me.

Nedbank can take a while to clear into FNB even for instant payments, but since I watched him do the payment myself I wasn't worried and I handed over the item he was paying for.

Well the money never came through and then the long stories started. Promising to do the payment again etc.

Well I'VE GOT THE FVCKER ON CCTC CAMERA. So I sent him a video of himself, and that scared him. he said he would pay immediately but the money never came.

Now I am putting a R5000 reward on my business' Facebook page which has a couple thousand of followers and mailing his photos to our mailing list with a R5000 reward for any info leading to his arrest.

If you know this criminal please DM me. He is from Goodwood area, Cape Town.

Where does one get a fake Nedbank app from? Maybe only sell to iphone users?

In such cases… I always tell the guy… logout… login again. Show me the eft history, and save the proof of payment…. (I am waiting)

I am usually more careful, but I watched him do it right in front of me. Correct banking details and I saw the payment successful page pop up.

Turns out it is a flaw in the bank's payment system that criminal's can exploit. They put a hold on certain transactions. Either to first time new recipients or if it's over a certain amount - even for instant payments. So it seems he basically got to cancel the transaction after it was done.

Nedbank are not interested. They won't even investigate the transaction number without a court order.

Things are hectic out there but for me I now just simply wait for the money to reflect in my bank account weather POP is there or not and I am especially wary of people who are eager to put me at easy or reassure me, In your case my first red flag would have been that brand the guy is wearing.
