Not directly but part on CPF and Neighberhood Watch so see crime almost daily.
And people only up their security after they have been a victim, despite me posting all my tips on things that can be done to improve security, to prevent being a victim in the first place..

Was victim to the Remote Jamming the guys were running against fords. Managed to get into my ST but before they could take anything two of my mates ran down and they bolted across the road back down Montague Drive.

Ummm, some dude climbed onto the balcony of a place we were staying at in Hermanus on holiday, made off with my Wallet which was in a bag on the table outside (while we were inside). Tried to draw cash at 4am from both cards, failed.

Smashed my window in 2012 while my car was parked at Bayside. BAYSIDE MALL, with a **** ton of people around, anyway, made off with my backpack and jersey.

Alternatively, I feel I've been fairly lucky compared to what some of my mates have been through. Saw a dude take my mates phone out of his pocket a few years ago and when I approached him, he drew a knife while two of his other acquaintances came round the corner to block me off. My mate and I took off very quickly (Long Street - 2014)

Couple of guys that were installing tiles at our house years ago stole my PC games and a few other things.

Through all the people I know, I've pretty much got a story or two for every year since I was old enough to remember and recall upon dramatic life events :/

Yes, my share in services that the R1 500 000 000 000 that was stolen was supposed to pay for.

Yes. Wife and I had our life's savings taken off our hands in PE. Builder/handyman took our money and disappeared.
No lectures please...lesson learnt thousands of rands later.

Had my Flat broken into, security gate and solid wood door, totally destroyed, new laptop, playstation and 2 cellphones stolen.

Then twice in the last year - my cellphone stolen / removed from my person - forcefully.

Just to add insult to injury ;

Never mind my car being abused by someone with a shopping trolley in the parking area, on numerous occasions. Off course no one says or saw anything.

Yes, 3 different occasions in the past 6 months. Worst was break-in @ work, took computers , monitors and TV's.
Took them 15 min to get to the front door open, but once alarm activated , in&out in under 4 min.

Guys jump over my fence quite often and take whatever lies around. They tried to steal my Grey Water Pump, but I stopped them. One morning they broke into my house while I was asleep and gained access to the garage from the inside of the house. They dropped something while they were carrying stuff out and it woke me. I ran to chase them, but they jumped over the boundary wall and was gone. They stole about 6 municipal wheelie bins in our street including my own one day. The guys walk around at night and break into cars and bakkies and steal whatever is inside.

Yes.
I loaned my bicycle to my little brother to go to university and back. The b@stards managed to get into his complex, got onto his balcony and stole it, along with his flatmate's bikes as well.

As crimes go, it is pretty minor (almost forgot about it lol), but nevertheless, it is still a crime.

I guess you don't have funds to secure your yard? If they cannot get into your yard, they cannot get into your house.

The South African motto is !ke e: /xarra //ke (diverse people unite) - could we please change it to: Steal, rape ,murder, scam, racialism, hijacking and pedophilia, with little fear of consequences.
