Back in 2013 cell c was running a competition using questions and answers. I lost maybe R150 then realised I have been scammed, today I have been on their website saw a competition and said never again even if it's for free. I lost R150 to a pregnant woman only to find out that she live in the same house with her boyfriend and there was tuck shop at home and I was giving her free stuff after finding out that day, I cut her off.

Adulthood
Religion

Two of the biggest scams out there

Fun topic. So many times...

-Varsity - First exposure to 419 lottery scam... took it all the way to the point of paying the money when something felt fishy and bailed.
-Just started working in 2008 - Freakin lani dressed couple at a garage while buying smokes... oh card doesn't wanna process, and no one is picking up the phone - can they borrow some money to put in petrol and pay me back. Duh. Off the grid after that. 2 years later same deal but different garage and town. Can't believe was so naive.
-Crypto... so many times during the 2016-2018 bull run. Rug pulls, idiotic Telegram Ponzi schemes with 30% ROI. 30 still seemed plausible at that time, now i know better anything over 11% APY is to be left alone. Going into 'business' with a very good acquaintance that is hard up on cash. He does a signal channel i do the support - only for him to collect the people's money then disappear, leaving me to refund them and still has the audacity to return after a year and say he had no choice, he was desperate, but here's the next big thing. 0.03 btc a that time. Still pi$$ed.
-Carb - Doucha called Trevor (probly not) selling Unify equipment. Typical sell you 2 working things first then lure you in with the big one then a million excuses as to why its never arriving. That one we actually banded together on a WA group to try and nail the guy, as he took quite a few people, apparently in Nelspruit. He even sent one guy a box of PC power supplies instead of APs. So idiotic.

Once got my EA/Origin account phished back in the day, they changed passwords, this was before 2FA was the norm.

Luckily EA was quick to respond without any fuss.

First time this past weekend.

My partner moved into a new place, and it was a bit of a sh*tty move. Anything and everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Among them was finding out that the sliding doors at her new place were stuffed (the wheels were gone).

With a hectic Monday on the cards trying to finish up the move and make sure she was secure and comfortable before I left, I hopped on 'I Know a Guy' on FB and asked for a reference for someone who could come out and replace the wheels. I know this is something I can do, but there was too much going on and for the sake of convenience I was willing to pay someone and just get it out of the way. One less problem for me to worry about. Agreed to ETF money to the person so they could purchase the wheels. They wanted 75% up front (parts, labour, etc). I said 50%. Seemed legit as they provided an invoice.

Cvnt never pitched up on the Monday and ignored my messages and calls. Fine. Gave him until 9am Tuesday before I started calling again. Cvnt dropped my calls and ignored my messages. The cvnt hasn't blocked me so I can still see his WhatsApp and he posts all these motivational posts about being an honest person, a hard-working man and what you put in you get out, yada yada. I guess it's true, the people that post that kind of stuff are the biggest sh*tters out there.

Lesson learned. Do it myself, even if it takes a bit longer.
