Anyone seen the new Nando's ad?
I laughed pretty hard at it and the humour behind it.
Then I wondered, Im registered to vote this year and pretty much all of my friends and family are too, none of us voted the last time round but this time it seems things are different.

So my question is, who is registred to vote and if you arent then is there a reason that you arent having your say?

That's a pretty biased way of asking the question.

Yeah I spose you are right there.
The reason that I put it like that is that most people who moan about things in the country not being the way the want them dont actually bother to do anyhting about it by voting.

I didnt really look at it like you have pointed it out though.

If you don't vote, you have no right to complain about the government for the next 4 years.

The end.

+1.
i`m always complaining about the government, but i never voted. we shouldn`t complain, and then when we do actually get asked to have our say we dont do anything. I think we'll have another chance to register in February. Definately voting this time around.

Let the (please be it intelligent) flaming begin.

I love my nation, and living in a young democracy i proudly take up my freedom to abstain from voting.
Without that right would it truly be a democratic system?

I have never registered, never voted, and never will.
Purely my political standpoint, which is: i want none of it.

For those who might have hazarded a guess, i'm an Anarchist.
And do be careful with your assumptions around that fact. :D

My friends look poorly on this view on voting (not on my beliefs), but i stand by my right in an up till this point, democracy.

The problem lies not with our political parties but with those who make up our great country's numbers. Our People.
Ethics, morals, even common courtesy and respect no longer seem to appeal to our (if not the world's) youth.

There are some of us who will just never be won over to believe these social ills can be sorted out by politically "making a difference".

So. As you may note i don't post much, unless motivated to do so, and i am looking forward to all your opinions.

You're not an anarchist. You use public services, you live in this country, you work and pay taxes, you buy stuff and pay VAT. You're a citizen like the rest of us, ergo you should go and bloody vote.

At best, you're an Anarchist-lite. An Anarchist-wannabe. And until such day as you manage to live up to your anarchic ideals, you're a citizen like the rest of us and you should go and bloody vote.

Anarchist? im thinking you are more of an attention seeking emo. How can you say you love your nation when you have nothing positive to add to the direction it takes?

Either way, you can sit there thinking you have a wonderful intelligent reason for not voting and its up to you if you vote or not, but like voicy said before - If you dont vote then you dont get to complain about the state of things.

Well said grayston, i respect your view. I suppose i'll rephrase and say i live to my anarchic ideals as best i can. Perhaps you should also do some reading up on modern day anarchism?

Just as i could say you're hardly a democrat, an attempt at coercing someone into voting for one of the electoral parties is hardly democratic now is it. Or should i say very liberal-lite of you.

And ease up on the wannabe negativity, you dont know me, neither do i know you, we all do the best we can to follow our principles that appeal to us most.

To get back onto the topic here, go bloody vote (or not), it's your right to. As far as i know this is a liberal democracy no?

Your right, but the point is if you don't vote, don't complain.

Hate to burst your bubble rocket-boy but i didnt mention a single complaint around our political parties or how this country is run. If not voting gets me silenced from raising my opinion on any other matter unrelated to the governance of our country, we'd be heading straight into an Orwellian state of living...

I merely made a statement of the downward spiral we are on as a society. Big difference.

You don't have to vote for any of the electoral parties. You are welcome to spoil your vote. In fact, that's about the most anarchic thing you can do at the moment.

Still, each spoilt vote (and each non-vote) increases the chances of ME being governed by someone who doesn't give two ****s about me or anyone I care for. I'm sure you know the feeling...
