Received my vehicle back today... 4 months and 7 days since I took it in.

So far so good. Will monitor for any oil leaks over the next day or so.

Total cost to replace crankshaft and overhaul the engine... R36K.

Luckily the insurance company came to the party and covered almost all of it. The assessor tried to squirm out of it but the workshop manager, mechanic and client service advisor shot down his allegations of driver abuse. This is the only bit of happiness in the 4+ month wait.

FOUR months? Bloody hell... I'd have written it off by then.

PS. They were on the front page of the Herald today. The same gentleman that tried to BS me in November got fired.
So ... you gonna get the dolly bird in the short red dress to detail it now you've got it back - the view could be interesting I'm led to believe :D

My car has been at the dealer for a month now.

96000km major service and to replace a crankshaft gasket to fix an oil leak. Total quoted cost around R20000.

What car is that? A Bugatti Veyron?

No, in the dealer's defence, they provided me with various courtesy cars.

Revenge is sweet :)

R37 000? 96 000 km? What did you buy? Something made in the ussr?

I would take it up with the company that makes the car...

Those two are not linked. Major service and to replace a crankshaft seal gasket was R19k. Replacing the entire crankshaft was R37k.

This would make me absolutely livid.

4 months and they cannot even check to make sure everything is working satisfactorily after they worked on it?

Yes and odo and speedo would be the most obvious things imaginable.

Kia wants R4700 for a service. Also the 80k one. Won't pay that. Car Service City asks just over R2000.

Had similar issue after my Ford Ikons clutch was fixed recently. A connector as some point just didn't make a proper connection, 10 minute job to fix.
