Hi all i got a couple of questions i am a Linux noob

I have Windows 7 (originally) and I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 today (on a seperate partition)

Im having trouble with my wireless USB adaptor, linux picks it up as wlan1 but i cant connect to any networks. The wireless USB adaptor's brand is IPTime by zioncom (WL0149 model to be exact). Ive tried searching for Linux drivers but nothing came up

Also problem #2 I dont know how to set my GNU Grub bootloader to list W7 as my default OS (at least as the first highlighted OS) because i will most likely use W7 more than Ubuntu for now at least.

Can anyone help??

I can't even reach their website, it seems like this company (ZionCom) either went bust or have some serious server issues.

Give us the output of:
lspci

The wireless chipset used is the important part.

From console/cli type in: lsusb -v

Post the part of the output pertaining to the wireless lan card here so we can see what chipset it uses.

Also problem #2 I dont know how to set my GNU Grub bootloader to list W7 as my default OS (at least as the first highlighted OS) because i will most likely use W7 more than Ubuntu for now at least.

You have to edit your /boot/grub/menu.lst file to select the default OS.

In the menu.lst file you will see all the entries for the bootable OS's
Code:
# general configuration:
timeout 5
[B]default 0[/B]
color light-blue/black light-cyan/blue

#[B] (0)[/B] Arch Linux
title Arch Linux
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz26
root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/172104d8-64a7-49cf-8f25-98e398e6249c ro vga=791
initrd /kernel26.img

# (1) Arch Linux
title Arch Linux Fallback
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/172104d8-64a7-49cf-8f25-98e398e6249c ro
initrd /kernel26-fallback.img

# [B](2)[/B] Windows
title Windows
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1

What you can do is change the default 0 to a 2 which will make windows the default booting OS. You could also move the config around a bit so windows is first in the list (0) and leave it at default 0

lspci -v gives output for PCI attached devices and not usb devices. Use lsusb -v instead.

This is very strange, from your pastebin output it seems like you have only two devices connected to USB, unless I'm missing something, a mouse and a Verbatim storage device? I cannot seem to find anything in there on your wifi adaptor.
Give us also the normal output, lsusb without the -v just to make sure I'm not missing something.

Fire up Synaptic package manager and download and install a prog called start-up manager, you can set the default OS in there.
