Durban - A three-year investigation into allegations of corruption at the OR Tambo International Airport has culminated in the arrests of 23 police officers on a range of charges from drug dealing to theft and racketeering.

On Friday, 12 officers; six police sergeants, four constables and two warrant officers, were arrested and according to police spokesperson, Colonel Katlego Mogale, police also recovered R1 million from one of the suspects.

Radovan Kreijcir?

The 23 will hopefully lead them to the kingpins... or not. It takes long to get to the kingpins in this business.

This is propaganda to make us think they're serious about busting organised crime. Expect an opinion piece by Adriaan Basson singing their praises whist Cyril orders another commission to probe theft and corruption by state employees.

Never forget: The State is incompetent.

There's a lot going on that you and I never get to see. There are good, dedicated police officers out there. I believe in those.

Kingpins hardly see jail time unfortunately.

You are right, there are good law enforcement officers.

This article, however, is propaganda.

This is proof that you will never ever give credit where it's due, complain when police officers engage in corruption, come up with reasonable explanations when corrupt officers are arrested.

Oh, we have such an efficient law enforcement agency that takes 3 years to gather evidence before any arrests are made. Those arrested seem to be your typical criminal element so you can imagine what happens when it comes to those disgusting, thieving bastardages that have been looting the Covid-19 relief funds! The Covid-19 pandemic will have been written in history books and those who remember the pandemic will be in their late 90's and will still be wondering whatever happened to the looting vultures.
Please don't expect any applause from me for the arrests made until the kingpins of crime in this country are arrested.

Of course, that would be too much to ask for.

You arrest them, you must proof they are guilty, they get a good lawyer, you must proof your case. It take so long.

True, living in a civilised country means we cannot hang them at high noon without a trial.

In normal society yes. But in SA we do zondo commissions for years until the population grow tired of the micky mouse show and then the circus ends with nothing to show for it.

So perhaps it is time that we arrest and prosecute immediately even if they go free , do it again and again. At the end of the day the government pockets should be deeper than the criminals and eventually the criminals cant afford a good lawyer.

Prolonging a single investigation for 3 years where we are almost certain most of these will get little to no sentence is just a waste of time and perhaps even higher cost than just prosecuting them immediately with minimal evidence.
