HD PVR Signal Loss

I have a HD PVR installed with a SATCR connection, i.e. one incoming cable. Worked fine up until today. Just put on the TV and there was no signal ... did a scan and it says there is a connectivity problem. Called it in and they were of little help. They say it's either the decoder or the sat dish / lnb. What else is there?

We haven't had a storm ... no wind, no lightning ...

Anyone else have this experience?

Sounds like a sat misalignment problem and/or a cable connection at the lnb.

maybe the cable from the lnb was not secured properly and over time it got loose and came off during the night due to the cold?

Check your system setup..

Make sure its set to use SatCR... mine worked fine until a week ago then reset itself, and I like the techie I am didn't check that most simple of things until 2 or 3days later after buggering around with the alignment and the cable and everything...

Like the other guy said, go to network setup and make sure that the LNB mode is set to SatCR and not to Universal... Then save and scan.

I think Multichoice pushed out an update or somethign over the last few days that might have done this to a few ppl... I just tied it back to the horrendous storm we had last week, but I might be wrong.

Hi. Thanks for the replies. Glad you guys responded before I climbed onto the roof!!! For some reason it reset back to Universal from SATCR. Changed it back, saved and scanned and all done. Why couldn't the techie at DSTV ask me to check that? All working now.

Thanks ... saved from lugging out the ladder!!!

He was not a techie. He probably has no experience out in the field. He has a list of problems with possible fixes for each one in front of him... and SatCR LNB's are not standard DSTV kit. Glad to hear it worked.
