For those who continously lambast the HDPVR offering, I would say that major improvements have occured in terms of stability and performance since its intro in 08. Clearly, it was rushed to market but Multichoice are doing everything to not only provide a similar user experience to their solid SDPVR, but added functionality like Catch-Up TV (HD & SD), series-linking amongst others.
Testing the various eco-systems, and subsequently testing integration of a software build is a very trying process for any software deployment initiative:
I would rather wait for a stable update then a rushed one just to add functionality for functionality's sake. I'm sure the managers at Multichoice are faced with these kind of decisions daily - they do not operate in a vacuum or ivory tower (even if the perception is there that they do)

I think 2010 could be a great year for DSTV...now bring on late December 09 already for some HD sport
